its been 7days now what the best way to do a hydrometer reading and what reading should i be looking for

my hydrometer only goes upto 995

looking good :) can i ask where you got that big 'saucer' for your bin, i think i could do with one of them just in case i ever bubble over!

being a lazy so-and-so i tend to just sanitise my hydrometer and drop it into the bin until it's near the reading i want. i think a lot/most people siphon some off to a trial jar so they can taste it at the same time they take a hydrometer reading. i've had 2 magnum kits (1 is almost ready to bottle : ) and they just said wait for a reading below 1000 then it's pretty much done. (Still need to rack off if you want, add flavouring, etc.)

Mate I have completed my first kit 2 weeks ago.

I'm afraid that out of the 19 liters that I got there is only 9 left. Hic

these kits taste nice they finish on there own at 1.000

its just a plastic tray that was laying about. i have just bought a new hydrometer and it says on it when to bottle :P when i have racked it off can i just bottle it right after.

you can but probably best not to bottle straight away imo. i'd leave it at least 1 day to let the **** settle again. no matter how caeful i am racking off i still get bits floating about.

its very simple to do all you have to buy extra is the sugar bang it all in wait 10 days then bottle and leave it 10days
