My parents want me to make some Stout, cant really say no because they are lettng me take over a small room to a brewroom!

Any recommendations for stout kits? and what BKE/DSM/Sugars to use?? :drink:

Coopers do a good stout kit i made mine with BKE and it turned out very drinkable :thumb:

I've herd about a explosive fermentation (Free stout carpet shampoo) on the Coopers stout kits! and won't be popular if this happens!

Use some tubing from the bung in the lid to a large bottle half filled with water to act as a carpet shampoo catcher!
Have done a two can stout using coopers see here clicky Tastes wonderful :D

I was in Rochdale today and went in there wilkos and got a EDME Stout (they dont do it at my wilkos for some reason!) think i'm, going to to make it with a 50/50 spil of Dark spray malt and brewers sugar!

:drink:

iv'e got the EDME stout kit on my next to do list. going to add some coffee as sugested by MD. But going to double the quantity. also im thinking about using Choc malt instead of DSM. ALL THE REVIEWS IV'E READ SO THIS IS THE BEST STOUT KIT ON THE MARKET. .

Hmm sounds good, Best stout it on the market!!! time to make it even better!! can't decide what to do with mine, wan't to add somthing to make it a little bit special, maybe a spicy stout or somthing!

What yeast are you going to use?

The EDME Stout was only the second thing I brewed, made to 5.5% with just granulated sugar because I hadn't discovered spraymalt way back in March.

I've just opened another now and it really does benefit from putting away and forgetting about for a couple of months, shame I've only got a dozen bottles left.

It really is quite a decent pint, although without anything to give a bit more body it's a bit too 'wet', if you know what I mean. Even so, I can't taste the tin and wouldn't rule out making it again.

Glad the two can Coopers turned out well. They recently had a special on Coopers cans at a supermarket chain here for the equivalent of GBP 4.50 a can so I bought a heap as it's stout season now, winter in Australia, so I'll be doing the recipe again shortly. If EDME products are as good as I remember then their stout should be excellent. My Dad and I used to brew vast quantities of EDME lager when I was in my 20s in Newcastle, and if I close my eyes I can still taste it :thumb:
