No I stupidly forgotMight be finished. Might not.
Did you take a gravity reading when you started it off? And what is it today, tomorrow and the day after?
Yeah I'm not in a rush as I'm waiting on more bottles lolJust because it has stopped bubbling doesn't mean it has finished. I never use an airlock for beer as I use plastic fermenters and they are never fully airtight.
I usually leave mine in the fv for 2 weeks minimum (3 for Youngs American kits which are notoriously slow). This means that even if it is finished in a week, it lets the yeast clean up any weird smells etc and the beer starts to clear.
I always go by hydrometer readings to check if a beer is ready to bottle. If it is a kit, they usually finish between 1.010 and 1.014. Anything higher usually means that fermentation is stuck or the yeast has stalled as the temperature is too cold.
I would leave your beer for another week then take a reading for 2 consecutive days and go from there.
I'll check it on Monday then Tuesday to see if it's levelled off just been Wilko for a newkie brown kit to start next week lolGet a hydrometer if you haven't already got one and check the gravity is not still declining.
You won't have all the numbers to work out ABV etc as you didn't check to start with, but if it's stopped going down for a few days then it's 'done'. Even if it's stopped, I'd still leave it a few more days to a week on top before moving on. Like Pavros said, look for 1.010 to 1.014. If it's much higher you might pop back in here to get some more ideas.
Yeah I'm not in a rush I may just leave it another weekMonday and Tuesday will be too soon. Don't be fooled by the optimistic timescale in the instructions. I would take a reading now and then on, say, Wednesday to see how it's going.
I would be looking at readings on Friday /Saturday at the earliest to decide if it's ready to bottle
Is this an extract or all-grain batch? If it's extract you can figure out O G pretty close by how much extract and how much water you used.No I stupidly forgot![]()
