I'm look at getting a new thermometer and I had a couple I was looking at. Specifically the ones you'll find below. Someone made a good point about not using ones that require you to dip into the liquid as you may enter bugs into the brew. I've heard of people using laser thermometers, though I haven't personally used one of these. Opinions and ones you might recommend? Moving on someone suggested to use ones that stick on. I hadn't even heard of these before mainly because I've never seen them. Anyway. How good are these stick on ones? As mentioned I haven't seen nor actually found any in store. Where is a good place to buy some if they're actually any good? Thank you for reading. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01GCEY2IS/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00SKC24D6/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Etekcity-Lasergrip-Non-contact-Thermometer-58%C2%B0F-1022%C2%B0F/dp/B01AT9TON0/ref=sr_1_17?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1533669107&sr=1-17&keywords=Cooking+thermometer

Yeah they're ok. Get some from a Hb shop, aquarium shop or eBay. As you say you don't have to bother your beer...just stick it on the fv and forget about it,until you need to see how hot,or cold it is. In the brew fridge I use mine along with a temp probe hiding behind a lump of foam taped to the fv.

They sell the stick ons in Wilko now. https://www.wilko.com/en-uk/wilko-stick-on-thermometer-strip-2pk/p/0441126
As you can see, they're not precision instruments but decent enough.

Of the thermometers you liked to I'd choose the Amir one. The first one you can get for 99p from China and they're pretty good but I've had a few of them and always get them wet and then the screen knackers. Even stripping them down and cleaning the zebra strips stops working.

The cheap infra red ones don't give good readings due to the emmisivity differences of different things. One of my pressure cookers is aluminium and I put a big square of black tape on it and measuring the lid, then that on the lid gives completely different results. They're good for hunting down cold/hot spots but they're pretty useless, really. The Amir one looks more waterproof and has a thin tip end which means it has less thermal mass and will probably get quicker readings. Yeah, 4 to 7 seconds isn't too bad. One of my thermometers seems like it's skived off for a *** between readings.

Yeah I'd taken a look around for the LCD strips. I bought some similar to the ones you linked but on Ebay, they're were 99p a piece. Decided I'd double up and use two per item and see if each one gives a much different reading. If they read exactly the same or off by a degree or two I'd say I would call it a day.

I bought a dozen for a few pounds on aliexpress or dealextreme. A few on every vat so I can either ALWAYS see a temperature indication. Not for accuracy but just to know whether it's below 24º, for pitching and stuff.

The LCD ones are fine for knowing the general temperature but not super accurate. A good option if you have an IKEA near is their digit cooking probe thermometer. It costs about £8 if I remember correctly. The probe is on a long wire so you can leave it dangling into the mash or kettle and it has alarms so once it goes over a set temp it beeps. Very useful for hitting the right strike temperature. Mine lasted a couple of years and had a lot of hot wort spilt on it and the probe got fully submerged quite a few times. I need to get another one.
