As a returning homebrewer and not done a brew yet, how things have changed. I am having to brew in my garage so am putting together a brew fridge. Now I find I need a compost heap. I have to find an open sewer, I have to get a cat (don't know if the dog will approve) Looking out on ebay now for a cheap power washer and I have to take up smoking. Fortunately I have the dog poo covered. I'm beginning to wonder if its really worth it.:lol:

The track leading to my allotment has some liquid bubbling up through the ground that looks suspiciously like sewerage. Let me know if you'd like a sample...

Thanks for the offer. Made a note of your user name and will contact you if I cant find a source nearer home.:thumb:
Will possibly look into Corneys to see if they require as much work.

Simple answer. If starsan is used and the surface doesn't dry out no matter how many microlife land on the surface they will be wiped out. If a sanitiser is used that needs to be rinsed away then bottle right after the rinse.
In my opinion sanitising bottles and putting them on a bottle tree there would not be a problem with infection if the bottles were used the same day no matter how they were sanitised.

I put kitchen foil over mine.

Friend of mine only uses swing top bottles. When he pours a beer, he rinses the bottle, quarter fills it with water, adds half a campden tablet, gives it a shake then leaves it until next bottling time, when he simply empties the bottle, and re-fills it with batch-primed beer. Doesn't seem to cause any problems, though I personally prefer to use steriliser just prior to bottling.

If I have to store bottles in my shed, I always seal them with beer reseals, just to keep the spiders out...

Get it on the spuds, quick. That's liquid gold on an allotment.

Wow this thread went a bit mental I don't have dog poo but a little one who is potty training so I can use some of her waste! I've sterilised and filled my bottles within the hour so will just do it this way and let you know if I am OK after drinking it

Slightly off track, but if you had prepared water the day prior to a planned AG, but the weather led to a switch in plans to a kit brew, would you feel safe to use yesterdays prepared water which is sitting in a non-sterilised but clean fermenter?
