Just wondering how you use a pressure cooker for sterilisation?
Do you just put enough water in to cover the stuff you want to sterilise, then set a high temp and pressure? But how high and then for how long?

15-20 minutes at 121C . . . or 15 psi.

I usually invert the 'basket' and my stuff goes on the basket . . . 3/4 to a pint of water. . .Bring to boil steam with vent open for 5 minutes. close vent . . .pressurise . .cook for said time . . .turn heat off and allow to cool naturally

If I make enough from my Corny Sales . . .I'm after one of these babies . . .only snag is that I don't think I can get a 5L conical in it :( . . . I think 2l is the limit

Thanks Aleman! Our pressure cooker is one those electric versions and nowhere near the size of the one your after but it'll have to do for now. Yet another thing for the future shopping list.

My bench top laboratory "autoclave" is pretty much an electric pressure cooker, it is even made by prestige :P .

V. similar to this (bigger):

At a previous lab, they used a normal pressure cookers on propane hobs. Worked fine, albeit was a bit of a pita.
