a few years ago i had a hand held steam device. Think it was called a steam bullet. I was just surfing around and found there are quite a few of these hand held machines. Just wondering if it's worth investing in one for home brew sanitizing as a chemical free way to sanitise all my home brew gear before a brew. I was thinking of giving all equipment to be used prior to starting a brew fv, plastic spoon, hydrometer, heater, a good wash in hot water then a good blast of steam. I mean what bugs are going to survive that. Thoughts please :hmm:

Might invest in one Bobsbbeer. Saw one think it was called liL yello [ Not little Yellow] round 22 quid.If it works it would have paid for itself easily within 8 or 9 months. at the moment we buy a big tub of young's powder knocks out around 7 or 8 quid a tub. Okay it goes far but then been on a water metre we use gallons of the stuff rinsing out so would save there too.Plus swmbo has started home brewing now. Not trying to cut corners just trying to cut down on time and water consumption. If it don't work i will have lost 22 to 38 quid. but if they give a decent jet of steam it should work.

I'd save your money, if you have a wallpaper stripper you can do exactly the same but a whole stack better:

A few bits of copper pipe (10mm and 15mm, and a couple of valves):

Connector to the hose 15mm to 10mm coupling:

or buy some of this and use it as a contact steriliser - 1.25ml per 1000ml - from asda pharmacy for about £5.80, put it in a £1 spray bottle from Wilko's or an old non perfumed sprayer (i.e. Jif - but not bleach etc) - you can do no rinse, or just a single rinse like I do:

If you still want to use a bleach like steriliser, buy the Supermarket own brand baby bottle steriliser - it's far far cheaper, and does exactly the same.

Lol Guyb. Far to much plumbing for me there mate.
Popped out for a new years day walk today went into Tesco and saw a bissle hand held steamer £49.99 was tempted but went across the street to Argos self same thing £39.99 so bought it. Just made up a Tom Caxton kit of bitter washed fv hydrometer plas spoon heater. in warm fairy liquid. Rinsed then a blast of steam. Only time will tell i suppose but if it works it will save a few quid and probably pay for itself in a year. If not it has all different types of attachments for around the house.
On a final note i put the nozzle into a bottle gave it a couple of blasts and the bottle got very hot so it should sterilise bottles fine instead of stacking 40 in the dish washer at 75c and on for 2. 3/4 hours.
