I wondered how long it would be before we heard the word.

I hate these buzzwords.

.

Sounds like a load of pretentious bullshine...
I worked in a place where every other line was this nonsense...I used to put my hand up and ask what they meant...

Hi!
Going forward, we need to push the envelope, think outside the box, break through the clutter and bring to the table a clear goal of empowerment. At the end of the day we need to unpack our fulfillment issues, get sustainability on the runway and make organic growth the new normal.
Still, you've put the idea up the flagpole, let's see whether anyone salutes!

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head.

I'll action this

What are the most irritating things you have heard people say (office jargon)

To take an idea or project ‘off piste’ aheadbutt

Do you all work in marketing? My favourite phrase is 'synergy', although that one disappeared as quickly as it arrived: "We provide synergy between paid and organic channels".

I literally don't know where to start.

"We are customer focused, right down to the cleaning staff." (Because no other business worries about things like customers.)
"Let's crowd source this idea" (Let's steal everyone's ideas for ourselves.)

My pet hates are TLA's.

The management at my old company would used dozens of them, oblivious to the fact that half the people they were talking to had no idea what they were talking about. In the end someone raised a question to a director in a meeting, stating that they were running out of TLA's. When the director asked him what a TLA was, he said Three Letter Acronym.

Communication improved after that.

Let's stick this idea on the train and see if it gets off at Clapham

If you really want to read a load of ancronyms, y o u should try to read through any old article written by the MOD.....

oops Ministry of Defence

Doesn't matter if its
UK or Dutch same everywhere.
I shoud know I worked for the MOD for 15 years.

Where these long words and acronyms work are when dealing with people/agencies who claim to know something, but fail knowing what an acronym means, or use it wrong, or horrifically mispronounce words. Separates the wheat from the chaff.

Colleague of mine wrote a complaint about the use of TLA's almost entirely using TLA's. I have to bow to his eloquence.

Like the "The Naval Gunnery Manual" Revision Paper that allegedly stated:

Revision One - Page One - Paragraph One - For "****" read "shot". clapa
