Hi

I am about to go over to the Dark Side and do my first full mash after half a dozen successfull Malt Extract brews, and to put the pressure on it's for my wife!!!

I was about to do the yeast start mix but reading my books they both say use malt extract and sugar. I don't have any malt extract. What shall I do? Can I just use sugar?

Thanks in advance
Mord.

Using sugar for starters is a no no. Use spraymalt. What are you brewing and what yeast?

I am brewing a Belgian Wit Bier and I am using Danstar Munich Wheat Beer yeast 11g pack. Can I assume I should use a dried wheat spray malt?
Thanks
Mord

No need to make a starter with dried yeast. . . It just needs rehydrating in water at 30C for 15 minutes . . .then stir leave 15 minutes then pitch.
