Star San withdrawn from sale in EU?

I just got this email:
Dear customer,

Brouwland imports the renowned cleaning and sanitizing Five Star products, of Five Star Chemicals & Supply, Inc. from the United States; furthermore we take care of their European distribution. As a result of stricter legislation, we are forced to put the sale of these products momentarily on hold. Our Quality Department is currently working closely with Five Star Chemicals & Supply to resolve this matter as quickly as possible.

We assure you that the chemical composition of these products were in accordance with food-grade standards upon introduction in Europe and that there was and still is no risk associated with the use of Five Star products. As the investigation period into the relevant legal regulations will require some time, we are unfortunately unable at this time to provide any information on the availability of the concerned Five Star products. In the meantime, we would like to refer you to our Chemipro range.

The following products are concerned: PBW, Star San, Saniclean.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and sincerely promise to do everything we can - together with Five Star Chemical & Supply - to rectify this situation as soon as possible. The instant we have more information, we will inform you ASAP.

Cheers for the heads up. I'm about 2/3 down my current bottle but have ordered another one just in case this doesn't get resolved. Star San is something I just could not contemplate running out of.

Maybe it’s not good for you, come to think of it I use it every time I make a batch of beer, then when I drink my beer I tend to get a headache, sometimes I even end up falling over and pissing myself!

Looks that way, if a number of completely different products are affected.

I would be wondering if the Starsan without the surfactant has been banned also, the surfactant in Starsan is also used in pesticides.

The MSDS for both PBW and Starsan stored at Brouwland both have an ingredient line-item listed as "proprietary". I wonder if the EU has now banned companies from doing that?

If it's the same stuff I used to use, it has to be well rinsed off after use as it can leave a white residue.
It's also a chlorine based cleaner which can affect me because of my asthma.

I bet it's the benzene...."ok" to wash your hair with but not good for drinking...it may get limited to professional use or they will have to change its ingredients.

Is it necessary? I use an Oxyclean type cleaner to clean bottles and fermenter and never had any problems. If I'm really paranoid I'll put about a pint of hot water and a teaspoon of bisulphite and close the fermenter.
Best practice is to rinse and bottles well, after use and clean the fermenter removing all traces of yeast and dry, after use.

It could be a license issue. There are so many garden fungicides, pesticides etc that used to be really effective but are no longer available . There was nothing wrong with them as such and if used correctly. It's just because the processes and costs involved to license or re-license them made it nonviable for the manufacturers
