Don't use the airlock as a definite sign of fermentation. Is there isn't a good seal on the lid the gas might escape from a crack.

Foaming is good.

I'd suggest you leave it alone for a few days to see what happens. Checking often will increase the chance of infection.

Thanks for all the advise fellas, I'm just gunna leave it alone for two week, it's foaming, looks good, smells good, if it tastes ****e I'll bin it, bottling my Merlot on Sunday to take my mind off it, oh the temperature fluctuates 18/20, within said box guidelines :thumb:

Just checked my hydrometer reading on mine it stopped bubbling away yesterday its 1.014,I leave hydrometer in the fermenter during the yeast pitch,so I don't have to touch just look.will do another 3 reading over next 48 hrs, been a week on Sunday.

Will you let me know what it comes out at, gives me an idea what to look out for, still unsure about this brew, just darnt touch it yet

Thought id take lid off and have a gander, you can see it gassing and churning, does this look right for 6 days in the fv? It's reading 1020, probably got a stuck brew here, down the poo pipe I think

At 6 days it's far far too early to be even thinking about binning it .
If it still looks as if its fermenting, it probably is.
I suggest you give it another two days and check again.
However if it still 1.020 it is stuck. Possible usual solutions to that, are to give it a gentle stir ensuring no air get dragged in, and/or move into a warmer place. If that doesn't work come back and ask.
And if SG is lower, then fine, you're OK.
Usual norms apply about 2 or 3 consecutive days at same FG before you bottle.
And you can leave it in the FV for two weeks or more without any concern provided it's sealed up.

Well I was almost convinced this was a gonna, but to my surprise I did a test and it came out at 1.014, thank the Lord hallelujah!

I think I will just give it a bit longer then get it bottled

Thank you all for your replies and advise and for encouraging a little patience, I think that is the key to this game, oh and sanitising of course :drunk:

Just cracked a bottle open, excellent carbonation after only a few days.Used Demerera sugar for the prime, tastes ok,a little cloudy,as when i opened the bottle the fizz was vigorous and disturbed the sediment. Will leave for a couple of months see how it tastes,as most say it gets better the longer you leave it.
