ive been using 3/8 silicon tubing to transfer to keg but am having issues. With my last brew forexample it kept stalling and after twisting a round with it to get it going again ended up with loads of air getting in. i am thinking maybe 1/4 inch tubing would be better?

I think this is what i am using currently

what do others use?

edit - also does it need to be a minimum length?

I use the tube from a Wilco's Syphon kit. Nice push fit on the tap and less soft than silicon tube.

i just transfer via gravity from the brewbucket on a table to keg on the floor . Will the softness of tubing effect that?

Don't know, you said yours keeps stalling. Is it getting kinked or is yeast / hops causing a blockage?

hops blockage - thats what i originally thought, but as when i began to remove tubing it flowed fine. nothing in tube but kept creating air pockets by fiddling about and am worried there is a lot of oxygen in my brew now!

Another option I have heard of is putting a 3/8 to 3/8 John guest connector on the tap. Then you can use 3/8 liquid/gas tube which is rigid.
