Hi All.
I fly sparge. I've always opened the MT tap, recirculated the first runnings, then started the sparge. I keep about an inch above the grains. Is this correct or should I completely drain the tun then start the sparge?

If you drain the tun first you risk a stuck mash, batch sparging avoids stuck mashes by stiring the grain again after adding the second sparge liquor thus stopping the compaction.

The method you describe as how you sparge is exactly the way I do it, andn it works :thumb:
