Hello,

Im new around here, me and a friend are brewing lager together to drink around the fire pit during summer nights. Being relatively young (19 and 24) we have a taste for lager and the IPA's.

Already in the FV I have a 5 day old geordie lager one can kit brewed with 1KG of Muntons beer enhancer.
Next week we have a coopers starter kit turning up which is also lager.

Later this year we also plan to build a portable bar which is can take around to various friends houses for BBQ's which will hopefully have multiple pumps for both personal and commercial kegs.

Any Suggestions for brew kits or the portable bar.

Josh

Blow your friends' minds and serve something that isn't lager. I would suggest the Youngs New World Saison - still a very accessible beer but has a bit more oomph about it. It's not old man beer either, so it won't be completely unrecognisable to people.

Hi,
How about a trip to wilkos I get a lot of my beer packs from there, which are very cheap for there own brand, and also you can play about and tweak them to your liking and not worry about losing to much money if anything does go wrong with them.

Also a bit dearer kits are the woodfoods bure which is a 2 can kit with two different hops contasined in there which is a nice refreshing drink for the summer, and it can be ready to drink in 3 weeks.

I hope this was of help.

I bought a cheap set up and the lager from wilko because I was inpatient waiting for my friend to order the cooper kit, have you personally tried the wilko kits, good and bad ones?

I tried the Wilko kits and found that if you use 2x kits in a 23L brew, they were OK, with some sugar, even as much as a kilo, although that is kind of on the limit, really.

They work better if you add hops towards the end of the brewing process and with this approach, you can get a pretty good beer.

I have tried the wilkos kits and I brew to 18 litres with a one can kit, add whastever I see lying around the house , golden syrup or black treacle and then add my yeast, I have not had a bad brew yet.

The wilko's cerveza kit is pretty good.
Just made one with some magnum and saaz hop tea bags (crossmyloof website) and some extra brown sugar.
Only been bottled for 3 weeks and it's a cracker. Really hoppy and citrus-y with a hint of molasses. Going to keep my greasy fingers off it now for another month and try to save it for Easter BBQ sessions.

I agree with Clint on the wheat beers. Plus they have a quick fermentation and conditioning time time too.

They are my favourite summer beer.

Youngs aipa...mind both took around a month to ferment out...it needs to get to 1006 fg. I still have a couple lurking in the shed which taste really good and the hops don't seem to have faded.
Looking at my notes and blow off tube is essential! Massive krausen!
