Some hops... longer condition?

Last few brews have had a strong odd (not beery but not unpleasent) taste if tried before 6 weeks then mellowed as time progressed.
All bittered with magnum and fuggles and styrians for aroma.
Previous used nuggets, willamette and citra and while improving after a longer rest were not so overpowered by one flavour.
 
what styles? to get a beer tasting good, it can take a while depending on plenty of things. tonnes of citrus hops = basically ready from the fv, strong abv and malty = probably take a lot longer!
