I am building my new brew kettle to upgrade from my small tesco value element powered one, and have 2 new 2.75kw elements. like these that i know a few forum people use:

infact it is this one with the old style plug.

first question is does anyone have a diagram or some instructions about wiring the old style connector - i don't know which is live, neutral or earth.
second question is is the plastic nut/shroud useless - it seems to tighten well, but i know some people recon it pops off!
third less of a question more of a sanity check does the silicone washer go inside the boiler and the fibreglass one on the outside?
Cheers
