Hi everyone , i purchased one of those yellow solar pumps and ended up breaking the input on the front part of it . I was wondering if anyone has one of these pumps that they are not using that has the front panel on it, maybe i could replace it ?I didnt try ringing the guy who sells them as i doubt they have those things spare seeing they are so cheap

I'm not sure what you mean barkar, I have a couple of the black fittings for the screwthread version spare but I don't think this is what you are after... could you post a photo?

Ah, gotcha. Sorry, I don't have that bit spare. I'd try ringing or mailing the guy, he might have a faulty unit with the front going spare, you never know.

where does one get that auto shops ?i have tried water weld but no joy with holding seal

I did the same with mine and contacted the guy. He gave me another at half price and a replacement end piece (which was the non screw on type) so I ended up with a spare pump. He's a good guy and seems to have got a fair bit of trade from the forum now.
I tried araldite, don't bother it won't hold. Good advice is to only connect flexible fittings to it and always hold both sides when tightening nuts onto it. It's too easy to stress the plastic when you've got huge grips and adjustable spanners in your hands.

Hi , yeah i emailed him and he acknowledged the forum saying he was big fan. I dont think he was too keen to send me on a spare piece unless I bought a seperate pump due to competition he faces from the far east, can see his point as i bought my pump from china and although they are issuing a replacement i thought it was too cheeky to ask for a spare front end ( all i needed in the first place !). Never got a chance to use it in anger yet was going to use it as a hlt/ boiler pump to MT /chiller with toton for recir herms - although inital water tests would suggest they are pretty excellent
Anyway hopefully someone might come along here

You've probably found out by now that they pump liquids well but are rubbish with air. Bear that in mind when routing your plumbing, to prevent air locks.

Most pumps are i have a totton and its also crap if there is even a small bit of air in it, learned my lesson the hard way on that score. :wha:

Tested out the replacement yesterday have it hard wired into my boiler /hlt with a deatachable output so problem solved , worked very well ...
worked well for cooling down wort as well pumping water to mash tun
