It's been nice and warm here for a few weeks so i filled up the spa pool. It's now at 36C so i'm going for a soak.

The spa is connected to the same 'controlled' 3 phase power as our air compressor. They control the electricity here during the winter as the country cannot produce enough to go round at times. So in winter we turn the spa off and empty it  As soon as the demand reaches a level low enough they resume power to 3 phase and the hot water cylinder. The cut off is usually 5pm ish and then it resumes again at anything between 7 and 9.30pm. The less power used the quicker it comes back on. Which is really annoying when you have a load of scuba tanks to fill.

So this is the first dip in my spa for the summer. I'm taking a nicely matured pint of Gail Porter with me and a big fat cigar. And it's just started to rain.

EDIT: Not so smug now. The spa has overheated the water and is flashing a don't get in the water sign. Bugger, bugger, bugger. I'm gonna leave the lid off for a bit and add some cold water... Bugger, bugger, bugger.

My mate on the Wairarapa has solved this problem Kiwi style. He has an old cast iron bath on his patio with a wood burner attached. When it starts to get too hot he put another bucket of cold in, throttles the fire back and gets a plank of wood to sit on.

I can just see him now cigar in one hand, rum in the other, looking out over the Waiohine Gorge and shooting the **** with the Moreporks. Lucky bast'd.

Yeh, a good old kiwi 'bush bath'. We've got one of those down in the glade.

The Spa was having a minor wig out. I turned it off and then on again and all was good. :D Beer gets warm really quick if you hold it with the bottom in the water.

So we're now cooking on the Barby every night and enjoying the Spa again. I love summer.

Lady Buzz has twisted my arm to fork out for a bloody hot tub so she can be out the way encased in bubbles while I take over the kitchen whilst brewing

I'm busy putting up a great big wooden gazebo thing in the garden to give it some shelter. Once it's up, the tub gets delivered. I'll post some pics if the camera comes back from repair anytime soon.

Cool, i built a big wooden gazebo thnig for mine.

i found an inflatable up spa complete with pump, chemicals etc for £300 online. it seats 4 and it's had rave reviews too.

methinks it may go in the garage on the other side of the brewery. i'll be able to have dip while i'm waiting for the mash!

Are you going to be permitted to spend an equivalent amount of cash on your brewery then?

Indeed, she'll never be able to complain again  It's very much a work in progress but here's how it's coming along. I'm busy out there now whilst the weather is kind.

wow!

are those roof panels gunna be removable so you can look up to the stars while in the tub?

did you build all of that yourself from raw materials, or was it a kit?

I have to concede it was prefabricated but still a real PITA to get up though. I should have the roof on over the weekend - it's not removable but, there is what I can only describe as a latticework chimney on the top, so you do get some moonlight and stars through.

I'll post again once it's all done and the tub arrives

<---- is green with envy

seriously mate that rocks. i was just gunna stick mine (when i get it) in the garage..... but you're giving me ideas on a self enclosed structure :thumb:

Finally have our tub in place!
