sloes?

Whilst out looking for rosehips I came across these little fellas.... can anyone tell me from the photo if these are sloe berries? I seem to think they are and wondering if there's enough to do something with them.. :wha:

They look like sloes to me. But if that's all there is you may be better adding them to some gin.

I work on a kg of sloes per litre of gin.
And yes, I'd say they look like sloes :thumb:

There are more. Not loads but just wanted to take this as a close up to get impressions. .. think I'll grab 'em tomorrow and see how much I come out with weight wise...

Look like sloes. Do the branches have inch-long (or longer) thorns that rip up your hands when you go for the ones in the middle? That's sloes.
Our back hedge yielded only 220gm this year, but it'll do for a bottle of gin. Can't be arsed to trawl the hedgerows.

I waited for a couple of frosts before picking, don't think anybody nicked nay out of my hedge like they did a couple of years ago, I think there's just not so many about - round here anyway

we had stacks and stacks of sloes this year and i'm still hoping for some more in a couple of weeks time somewhere else. another goodun to tell if it's sloe, is if you split skin and lick it your mouth shrivels up :mrgreen:

I boiled up a lb and put them with some aldi apple juice for a turbo cider.

Bottled the other night so I'll let you know!

really?? its been a bumper harvest round here.....got 5 litres on the go of vodka and gin with loads left in the freezer still waiting for payday
