This defeat for England has been coming I think, they have sailed close to the wind with poor performances and sometimes it glosses over a few glaring problems.. even at Twickers I think they will need a rocket up their arses to beat Ireland who to be fair look too strong this year (although not the most attractive team to watch)
Can someone tell Danny Care that there are other options available to him rather than the inevitable box kick that seems seems to give the ball back to the opposition almost every time.

We miss Ben Youngs to be honest.. Care often looks good coming on as a finisher against a tired defence but his game management is no where near as good as Youngs.

Less than 20 minutes to play and France lead 19-9. England look slow, short on ideas and ill-disciplined. Unless they can come up with something special, it’s back to the drawing board. Very poor.

Discounting results against Italy, who seem to have forgotten how to win, there has been only one away victory in rounds 1-4 this time. Ireland beat France in Paris with the last kick of the game and have won the Championship with a round to spare.
Last year the sole away win was in Wales v England, on the last play of the game, in Cardiff.

Very infrequent, winning away from home (unless in Rome) in the Six Nations. So I think England, Wales and Scotland to win on Saturday.

Just watched a routine, bonus point victory for the resurgent Scottish against a dull Italian side.

Well, that's what I wanted to post. Somehow it wasn't quite like that.
Italy played like Scotland early doors, playing ball in hand rugby and dominating possession - really great rugby.
Scotland played like over-confident school boys and I was convinced for 70-75 mins that we would lose.

Much Kudos to Italy, Parisse in particular and also Tommy Allen, deservedly man of the match. 100 losses in Test Match Rugby may not sound much of an honour and Sergio is no longer the force he once was, but still a force. Could be his last international?

Slightly more than half pissed already, emotionally drained, and still two (minor) games to play (just joking). England v Ireland to come and a possible away victory, Grand Slam and a St Patricks day to remember for the best team in the NH.

I can't believe Italy blew that. They left a couple of tries out on the pitch with poor handling and poor decision making at crucial moments. Scotland were poor for a lot of the game - what happened to the turnover machine they brought to the England match?

Actually, how are you going to see my reply if you’re away from the internet!

England all over the place once again. Ireland much the better side, though they’re awful to watch and the referee is dreadful. Why do we get Southern Hemisphere officials involved in the Six Nations.

That was the worst refereeing performance I've ever seen in a test match. First try was a clear knock on, second try there was a potential knock on in the run up that they didn't look at. Should have been a yellow card at least for the shoulder to Daly's head. Missed at least four knock ons (one against England too). Absolutely abysmal.

That said, England didn't deserve to win.

Sounds like the same ref as the England v Wales game

Is it time for Eddie to fcuk off?
No, of course not. He's still one of the best three coaches in the world and his record with England shows that. This is a blip, we're missing a couple of key players and for whatever reason we've lost focus. We'll be right by the summer.

Better this happened now than in the immediate run-up to Japan.

Correct. Scotland were awful first half and only won because Italy can't play a full 80, even with 8 substitutes.
Plus we were very lucky. As a follower of Scottish rugby on and off for many, many years, we always used to lose games like these.

"Wir wee lad" Grigg reminds me of the great Jim Renwick who played in the centres, back in the pre-professional era in the 1980's. Good debut.

But my, oh my, were we lucky to win that game.

There were subsequent games, in which Ireland made England look pathetically inadequate and Wales duly despatched a much enervated, but perennially ill-disciplined France.

Grand Slam to the four proud Provinces of Ireland!

The England game was ruined by abysmal refereeing. Ireland deserved their win, but the margin was not deserved.

I did fall asleep for quite some time during the England v Ireland game, so am poorly placed to challenge this observation, but are there specifics that you could mention?

From the 70% or so that I watched, the officials were as good as Gold. As, I might add, rugby officials generally are, whether one likes their outcomes or not.

With the sudden passing of my father a few weeks ago I havent really been focused and watching the 6ns properly I kind of missed the last weeks games and only half watched this to be honest, Congrats Ireland deserved champions. Well drilled side and efficient, do not even need to do the pretty stuff just the basics and disciplined..

England have been poor this tournament pretty much a backrow breakdown issue (lock at blindside blinside at openside and unfit 8)which given absentees Eddie struggled to populate right until today actually.. Eddies record before was so good it was never going to maintain and I think ultimately England do need to blood some of the talent they have. It may not work straight away and may take a while but in the end they will bounce back.. They look a little tired too, Itoje is a great prospect but he is suffering a bit of second season hangover I think.. I hope he gets the summer off.

I was surprised to see Scotland go down to the nails.. but I dunno always felt Italy would fade after 60 because they always do at the minute.. This Scottish side has loads of potential but I think they need to take the formidable performances they put in at Murray field on the road a bit more. They need to get a big win on the road I feel at Twickers Landdown or Principality to really put the mark down they are genuine champs but certainly heading in the right direction.

Only saw last few mins of Wales France, France blew and easy chance to win ?

I think first try they say came off Irish hand. tbh I woudl have to watch it again but Id Argue watson needs to do better..

Like I said earlier in this thread a few weeks back before the chippy comments flooded in you sometimes win them and sometimes lose them with TMO, but England IMO should have dealt with it.. I have no problems and tbh Ireland were the better team at least in the first half..

To my way of thinking England have had a few issues and I explained above, they are the issues I worry about to be honest not the referee..

First Ireland try was a clear knock on. TMO missed it. Second Ireland try had a questionable forward pass, TMO didn't even look at it. Clear shoulder to the head of Eliot Daly by Bundee Aki - should have been a yellow card at least and could easily have been a red. At least four forward passed (three by Ireland, one by England) that the ref waved on. As I said, I don't think England deserved to win but the officiating was abysmal.
