Site Gauge Marking

Just got my boil pot which has a site gauge on the side ,glass tub enclosed in a chromed shroud. It isn't marked but I was wondering what's the best way to marking it for volumes of liquid? I thought about just using a marker pen but are there better methods? I could etch the inside of the pot as I have the electrolytic etching machine I use for my knife blades, but its a real tedious job to do. Any suggestions please?

I use electrical tape to mark out the capacities on my sight glass.
