It encourages peer pressure. Some people like to be like the rest or they feel they're not acceptable.
I never did. In my younger days it was retro vintage rock nroll gear.
Nowadays I just get accused of being scruffy by Mrs Clint coz I won't buy fashionable clothes...my excuses are that I don't go anywhere to look like a dogs dinner and if I do I'll look like everyone else!

It was a very popular model back in the day we had one in the living room when we first moved in, they were right it kicked out far more heat than todays versions.

Think I've said this before .

I used to have a capri 2.8i many years ago. Brilliant in a straight line, reluctant to go round corners ). From standing you could put it 2nd, put your foot down and stay in 2nd until it was doing 60.

Got nicked obviously.
