My first car was a mk2 golf driver.

Second was a ford capri 2l laser . I almost died in this. Had to have reconstructive surgery on my face .

Vw t4 transporter. I still own this to this day has it 13 years!

I always had company work vans do i didnt need a whip. My friends always had nice cars so i didnt need one. My best mates car list is extremley fruity!

Mine had murderous intent too. Especially in the winter. More than a few 180’s usually when you least expected it.

Usually when trying to turn right at a roundabout. If it was wet every time!!!

I only had a 1600 but they were a bit tail happy in the wet.

Oh well, here we go.
Learnt to drive in my dad's Renault 4
First car was a bronze Fiat 127 palio from my Grandad. More than a bit temperamental at starting. Fun fabric sun roof. Ran that into the ground.
Red Seat Ibiza. Only had a couple of years, didn't like it much.
Yellow Fiat Cinquecento sporting (first new car). Like a gocart, but blew the head gasket after 7 years & needed something bigger as 2nd child had arrived.
Peugeot MK1 partner combi van. Slidy doors & 3 kids seats across the back. Plenty of space for pushchairs & camping kit. 1.9 litres of non turbo diesel tractor engine, but I do function over style. 12 years from new.
Replaced when not economic to repair.
Now we are up to date:
- Wife still running a MK3 Citroen Berlingo combi van. It's been more reliable, but build quality isn't as good as the MK1. We must have had this about 8 years now
- I have a Renault Kangoo2 combi. I like the way the seats fold better than the PSA vans, reliability is comparable. Plastic trim quantity is appalling. Had for 6 years so far

I only ever owned 6 cars!

First was a Morris Marina I bought off a squaddie in 1984 for £50 at the end of the month - it was a few days before pay-day and he needed beer money After that a Ford Cortina Mk5, Ford Granada Mk 2 Ghia, Ford Mondeo Ghia, Ford Mondeo ST220 (what, I liked Fords!)

For my last car before retirement (and still my current car), a treat. This 5-litre supercharged V8 Jaguar. Beauty and a Beast.

Forgot I had one of these between the Sprite and Beetle. It needed a gearbox repair when I bought it (£20) so transferred the box out of the (rusted out) Sprite.

All my dozen or so early cars were either an Austin, a Morris or then later a Rover. A lot of my friends worked at Longbridge and I only wanted British built cars. in 2006, my company car choice became a Vauxhall Vectra or a Vauxhall Vectra. . After a few years I bought a Rover 75 just for for weekends & holidays. I still have it and it’s the best car I’ve ever owned.

3. Ford Escort - not quite the base model as it had a lid on the glove compartment!

Ford Sierra Saphire - the best car for long distance driving that I’ve ever had. And very tail happy!

Audi Coupe 2.2 - 5 cylinder engine sounded great. Had 130mph out of it, just the once! This is the only actual car photo. My daughter is now 30….

Most owners in the UK didnt have them long if you stood next to one in the rain you could hear them rust.

I got a recall notice for a rust affected suspension arm about three weeks after the said suspension arm had collapsed!
It collapsed at 5mph on my parent’s driveway. The night before I had been doing 90mph down a narrow country lane with a steep drop off one side……..

They didn't build them with road salt in mind it's not a wonder they didn't last long.
