Hi all,

Totally new to this forum and the homebrew lark.

The tail end of last year my Girlfriend got me a lager homebrew kit which I followed the instructions and set about making some lager.

Unfortunetly, due to work comitments / Christmas / being a dozy muppet I kind of forgot I had it doing its first fermentation in my spare cupboard. I haven't yet bottled and added sugar for the second part of the process.

I know that this is a very daft question (not as daft as leaving 25 pints undrank in a cupboard!!) but will it still be ok, or should I cut my losses and start on another kit, paying attention to this one!.

Cheers,

Paul

Hi Paul and welcome,
If I were you I'd ditch it, the yeast will have broken down and created bad flavours  , most people don't go over 2 weeks before bottling, this would give you a very bad impression of homebrew and undeservedly so. Get another kit, maybe replace the kit yeast for SO4.

Hi 31bb3,

Thanks for the quick reply.

Not yet tasted it. It smells pretty much the sames as I recall it did when I put it there - beery.

Its sat undisturbed with a lid on in a cupboard that has a constant temp of 20-21 degrees.

Should I brave a quick taste?

:hmm:
It's been well over half an hour .... is he coming back?

Did it taste so good that he's sat in the airing cupboard, hugging the cat and singing 'show me the way to go home'?
(there has to be a modern equivalent to that song...?)

We need to know..!
:D
