1st post,

I would like to start brewing beer (I drink a lot of the stuff so have experience), am researching as much as possible and have a few Q's.

My setup will be shed based so at this moment I am thinking I will need to regulate the heat (cooler will come during warmer months), the initial setup will be in the kitchen so at temp, would the following be sufficient to keep warm when transferred to shed.

wrapped up in this stuff..

seems like a plug and play solution really, or is this just too easy?

any advice greatly appreciated.

Sorry was intending to use a Beer kit at 1st, Fancy a IPA tin. This heater setup was meant for the Fermenting stage.

I'am doing my shed/ man cave lol
I'am thinking brew fridge, but what about all the beer and wine stored in it
Summer could be a concern , thinking a small air con unit, anyone with experience with this set up
Kenloen I hope u dnot think I'am hijacking your thread, hope my question will help us both

Good Question, I was gonna bottle 1/2 (loads of bottles left over from Xmas, a capper and caps are cheap enough) and I have 3* 5 litre Kegs (Hobgoblin lite) also left over, I was under assuming the temp of these are not as important as during the ferment stage??

Temperature is important at these stages. A good rule of thumb is 2 + 2 + 2. That is 2 weeks in the fv, 2 weeks bottles/kegs at same temperature, 2 weeks colder to help clearing. It seems to me if I have read it right you intend your whole shed to be your fermentation chamber? Seems a little excessive, and possibly overkill. If you can lay your hands on a fridge then plenty of advice on here on how to convert them. Or, using your list of stuff, insulate and heat a cupboard. Much more simple, and easier to control.

Use a fish tank heater in a big pastic box full of water. Put your fermentation vessel in the heated water. Temp is controlled by the aquarium heater. An aquarium heater is about £12.00.

Good ideas thank you, will look into the fridge thing, can probably get a small used fridge for £10, didn't realise they could heat as well as cool..

You would need to add a heat source such as a greenhouse heater if you want a fridge to heat as well as cool. The temperature can then be controlled by an STC1000 temp controller off of ebay.
