Hi all, I'm after some advice on setting up a mobile bar. I've been asked to sort out the bar for a friends wedding in the summer. I'm brewing the ale for them and that'll be dispensed by hand pump so no real probs there. However, they want a lager and cider too (hence fixing the maxi cooler!). I'm getting a keg of Carling and Strongbow from Teesside Beer Wholesalers and I have all the gear to go with them (regulators, connectors, fonts, cooler, etc). Just want some sound advice on setting up as the whole line bore, length, pressure stuff seems a minefield and I don't want to mar their day with glasses of foam! Any advice gratefully received!! Please!!!

Wassail!

if u fit 6ft-2m of 3/16th inch micro line inline for any highly conditioned brew it will balance out any keg pressure, helping u to avoid foam outs due to massive pressure drop at the tap..

consider standing kegs in trubs of ice on hot days, and insulate the hell out of em once plumbed up in ice or not , keep the sun and ambient heat off em.

dont forget to pull yourself a pint ;)

Sorry just a quick reply before work. Dont worry about the cider you can get away with murder if your set up is a disaster it will still pour without excessive fobbing.
With the lager make sure the keg is cold, local pub, cellar would be good. If it is warm you are going to struggle unless you have something big enough to immerse the keg in.
Use an adjustable dalex tap for the lager it will make life a lot easier.
If all the gear is coming with the kegs you will have the option to change ths gas pressure so shoulx be

cheers for the advice folks! the kegs wont be chilled unfortunately, although I'm planning to take them up the day before the wedding to let them settle a bit first. The plan was to run the grog straight out of the keg and into the beer chiller with the shortest possible line and maybe run the lager through the chiller twice for extra cooling. Will then run in 3/16" to the tap which fortunately are dalex adjustables! I have two coolers so have the option for extra cooling if needed. I've got some funny looking gadgets which came with the original set up which go in the beer line. Not sure what they are, I think they may have something to do with preventing fobbing. They look like little black cone shaped things with brackets to mount to a board. Will post a pic when I dig them out!

the inline devices sound like 2ndary flow control devices
u can use them instead of microline (3/16") WITH flow control taps, but will possibly be a lot more tweaking involved. i found flow control taps ok with low pressure upto 8 psi with a 2nd device inline u may handle higher pressures with them. i wouldnt bet on it tho.
microline coils up neatly out of the way..

Cheers for all the info Fil, been raking around in my midden of a shed and found most of my stuff, although there's two gas regulators and some other bits and pieces unaccounted for which is annoying! Found my two Sankey and two Grundy keg connectors though which is a relief! I've also found one of those inline thingies - I did have two but one's done a runner. There's a pic below, any idea what it is?

It's got Alumasc written on the side, the input is 3/8" and the output is 3/16". The input is at the narrow end of the cone and the output at the larger end of the cone near the bracket. The bracket has Carlsberg Tetley on it and part number 61911.

i have a very similar looking device with a contril knob which moves a cone shaped baffle back n forth inside the cone shaped barrel, exactly like a folw control tap.

without the control knob AND the stamping mentioning specific beers I would guess that its a fixed restriction device for them beers, when served at a specific pressure?? but its only an educated guess. (educated?? well ..)
