What's the best temp to serve a beer I've been having to put my bitters in the fridge for an hour. It gets down to 12c which seems about right . Is this right or should I cool the beer more or less

afaik the ideal temp range for a beer cellar is 11-13C so with 12 smack in the middle it seems your chilling is spot on :)

but at the end of the day its all a matter of taste:)

I find that it depends on the weather and the outside temperature. When it's 30c , I will chill my beer as cold as possible. If it is a cold day, I do not even switch the chiller on.

I'd agree with Fil about it being a matter of personal taste although if you like all your beers really cold, go for it, but I'd say 12°c is a great temp for bitters and ales as I find it allows you to taste the malt and hops, hmmmm lovely! I find when you chill bitters and ales too much that taste is lost.

Cheers,
erl :drink:

Same with any beer/larger/cider that is why the large breweries have got the masses into drinking ice chilled beers to mask the fact that there is no taste to them in the first place.
