Hi all,

I have recently brewed my first beer kit 'coopers lager', and it has been in the bottles now for 8 days. Having checked it today it looks very clear which I guess is a good sign however every bottle has sediment settled at the bottom of the bottles.

Can anyone confirm if this is normal or have I done something wrong.

Cheers

its normal. The sediment forms from fermentation in the bottle from the sugar added at bottling and also from the fermenter that gets into the bottles

Thanks Mark.

Its a fact especially with those new and too eager to home brewing that the sediment deposited in the bottle is mainly due to what was carried across with the brew when bottling. Being eager folks tend to bottle too early and fail to allow enough time for the rubbish to drop to the bottom of the fermenting vessel before bottling.
There will also be as stated the small amount from the extra added priming sugars.
Try and leave your brew in the FV's for a good 10-12 days before you bottle or rack it into a second fv for a week or so before bottling, thereby leaving this sh.... rubbish behind leaving you with a good chance of a perfectly clear beer.

welcome as well.
