So you genuinely can just use your mouth? We used to have a big tropical fish tank and you use the suck method(we also use it in Glasgow when nickin petrol from other people's cars).

What about bacteria in your mouth, does this not have a good chance of infecting your brew? I mean you wouldn't spit into your FV would you?!

I'm sure you guys know what you're talking about, I'm a complete novice, just interested why this is the case? :hmm:

Actually, I did spit into my FV once. I got a mouthful of beer after sucking a little too long and my instincts told me to spit it out, as if it were petrol. The resulting beer tasted fine so whilst there is an incresed risk of infection, it's still not very big. The fact that it contains alcohol at this stage probably helps.

I think there may be the tendency for people to be a bit paranoid about infection...ill still be careful
