Second kit brew - Wherry issue?

Hi,

Did my 2nd kit thursday night, and all apperars to be going well, but today, it seems to smell a bit like sulphur - the Admirals reserve I did previously didn't smell like this, so now I'm worried its off !!

I cleaned/sterilised everything as per instructions...

Anyone else had this ?

Is it fermenting away?

I would take a gravity reading and give it a cheeky taste (unless the smell is unbearable)

Yes, its fermenting like a good un - I'm ok with the smell, our Gert isn't....

leave it till its finished then have a little taste
these kits take a while to get a good taste from
but are really nice once conditioned

I'm by no means an expert but sulphur / rotten egg questions seem to pop up regularly and is almost always a normal brewing by product and not an issue.

I've noticed a sulphurous smell on many occasions, and it usually goes away in the fermentation process. I've always put it down to being a little over-generous on the use of Sodium Metabisulphite steriliser when preparing my equipment.

I took the lid off the FV this morning to check the gravity, and I don't think it has got long to go to finish fermenting, but it still smells bad..

I think I might have lost this one....

Hey-ho, will just have to use mt AG gear a little sooner than expected :whistle:
