Its only taken me a year! I have had a coppers ale kit fermenting for a week or more and its FG is 16 after 3 days constant reading.

I am ready to stick it in the keg which I will do tomorow when I get some sterylizing stuff. Tonight though I took a glass (ok 2 pints :? ). A to see what it tasted like, and B because I finished work late and missed the offy and fancied a drink.

It tastes a bit weird. Not bad, but not good either. Sort of bitter sweet, does that make sence?

Is that coz it hasnt been conditioned in the keg yet or could it be something bad? Does a lot of the flavour imporving take place in the keg/bottles after priming?

Also is the time it spends being presurised in the keg priming?

Cheers.

Did it taste like flat beer?
Infected beer will taste "Nasty" so I doubt it is that, and yes the "condition" gas makes a big difference to the taste and mouthfeel of a beer :thumb:

The time it spends in the keg "being pressurised" is called conditioning, priming is the process of adding extra fermentables (sugar) to the beer so that CO2 gas is formed by the action of residual yeast :thumb:
