Decent enough price of one of the better mass market malts.

Very sweet, very (read "too") easy to drink.

Go on then, if you insist, just a little one... ;)

Just tried it, tastes fantastic...... very moreish

all bottles of Glenrothes are excellent, I usually get a few each year...

but the one I refer to, with the 2006 gold sticker, is outstanding !

I had 12 bottles of this, but alas, it was so good , I have only one left

Hooked?

Tesco up here doing Talisker 26 quid a bottle, good price. Possibly my favourite whisky...

I hope your journey is going well...

I'm currently making my way through a bottle of Ardbeg. Very good whisky.

I'm half tempted to buy the Penderyn Single Cask Bourbon and put it away for a very special occasion (it's £295!) as I bought the single cask Swansea Portwood; that too is a very good drop.

Lagavulin is one of my all time favourites though.

Either of those are a very nice little dram

With the $ going south as it is those may become affordable, but I'm betting that the £ pricce will not drop off in line with the exchange rate, mainly because they are made in the UK (don't tell the Scots I said that mind ;) ), but secondly because the Japanese will still pay through the nose for really good Scotch :)

Yum!

EDIT: so I opened it. Tis far too strong to drink neat at 57% (but of course I did take a wee taste...) but with a reasonable dilution, by crikey, it comes alive with fruit and caramel and vanilla and all kinds of loveliness. Truly awesome. Yum. Yum. And Yum.

Nipped down Sainsbury's last night to stock up on sherry and port for Christmas, as they currently have a "buy 6 or more, save 25%" offer on wines (inc. fortified), and darling daughter has a staff discount card which was saving a further 15%.

Somehow, a Glen Moray and a Monkey Shoulder (caged) also managed to fall into our trolley, coming out at £15.73 and £22.95 respectively.

A blend of Glenfiddich (which I think is highly overrated) and Balvenie (which I love) and Kininvie (which I had never even heard of), I'm seriously impressed.

DD has baggsied the limited edition cage packaging and is going to put a toy monkey in it.

Might try that Moley.... :thumb:

Bought a bottle of Gentleman Jack from ASDA today (£23.00 less daughters 10% discount), gong to try it tonight.. :drunk:

Monkey is my go-to in the duty free shops if there's nothing interesting. It's a bit too easy to drink is the only problem with it...
