:wha:

I bottled my brew on Saturday a Coopers Lager and primed my 500ml bottles with one cooper carb drop per bottle. Some I added a small amount of sugar aswell as the drop but mainly they just had one drop. AFter finishing I noticed it was one drop per 350ml so was already concerned. Anyway tonight curiosity got the better of me so I fetched one out of the cupboard above the boiler and it looked as clear as a bell so I banged it in the fridge for a few hours and when I opened it well.........a grasshoper does bigger farts! On pouring it offered me a token gesture of bubbles but on tasting I found it to be reasonable but powdery and very flat. Should I be concerened or will it develop fizz with age? If not is there anything I can do?

I know trying after two days :nono: but its first time and I am worried :(

Patience young padwan. He who's beers fart like a grass hopper will roar like a mighty tiger if he just leave them alone somewhere cool for 3-4 weeks

The rule of thumb is 1 week for every 10 points of gravity so if your beer started at 1040 then it will take one week somewhere warm and then 4 weeks somewhere cool.

As GA says, patience is key.

Edit: Just to clarify: 1-2 weeks somewhere warm to carbonate, 3-4 weeks somewhere cool to condition.

I had a fairly similar experience with the carbonation drops. I did exactly the same thing as yourself with regards to not reading the packet and just assuming they were 1 per pint.

I ended up with a very under-carbonated cider. The cider was fantastic, it just lacked a little bit of fizz to make it perfect. I imagine the same issues with the lager unfortunately as they lack the body to hold the head etc.

It should get a little better than you describe though, if you leave them for a bit as suggested, as mine wasn't THAT bad :D
