I guess this might be a regular query from relative newcomers like me....... :roll:

I have found a recipe I really like the sound of for a Marston's EPA type brew. I'm not sure if I can post the link here, but you can google the following;

"Home Brew Forum • View topic - Marston's EPA - Jim's Beer Kit"

The problem is, my pot is only around 9-10 litres max, and obviously I would not want to try filling it completely....

Is there a workaround I can do?

Thanks for you help. :cheers:

Sounds like you could do it with light malt extract, 2.8kg of the liquid one with 6-7 litres of water. Will end up darker than the EPA and probably a bit sweeter as it's quite a lot of extract for so little water and it's likely to burn. Then you can top up in the fermenter. It's worth to invest in a good pot :)

Thanks! I might give this a go, as it's a recipe I like the idea of....

I'm also tempted with the idea of a new pot.... but not sure if my hob is big enough either :?

While i was getting all my stuff to start my home brewing i knew i would need a pot but the question was what size.. It needed to be big enough but not too big for the hob so i went for a mid size a 14 ltr as i would mainly use beer kit for my first few brews. I also thought if i do go too make my own from scratch i could do a 10ltr brew and then had 10 ltr water in the fv, i would just make the boil a little stronger so when i would had the extra i should still get a good brew..

link posted for fleebay there cheap and various size

Hmm, not unreasonable either :-)
