You have to take out the rollers, score them up good with a Dremel or drill bit of take them to a knurling shop and get them knurled, then put it back together.

I've used crushed grain that was 8 months old, easily and it was no different to when I opened it. I kept it in a fermenting bucket.
 
Mine's under the tree measuring a whopping 42cm x 52cm square. (well actually it's that big it's sitting next to the tree) I wonder if it's brew related or, knowing my lot, a Russian doll of cardboard boxes and a micro gift in the middle:laugh8:
