It has only one weakness, it's far too drinkable....right from the end of fermentation :roll:

I'll be brewing this myself...hopefully on Wednesday.

For me, personally, I thought finding a stout I liked would be the holy grail, as I don't really like the taste imparted by roasted malts. I stumbled upon the recipe by chance, having never tried the 'real thing'....I count myself as very lucky :cool:

“Birch Tree Oatmeal Stout”


4000g Pale Malt

250g Crystal Malt

250g Chocolate Malt

150g Black Malt

300g Flaked Oats

15g Roast Barley


45g Goldings Hops 8.3% (90mins) 30 IBU


S-04 Yeast


Based on Vossy's excellent recipe!

Do you caramelise any of the wort?
 
My first AG was a dry irish stout and as it's been about 6 months since I last brewed anything this could be the first thing i make this time.
 
You wont regret it :drink: ...just make enough, it runs out pretty fast :cheers:

I'm going to have a play with the oatmeal recipe, as I reckon it could be a good base for an old time porter. I'm a big fan of the meantime porter and I think a bit of tweaking with some rauch and brown malt and there could be a very special beer in there somewhere
