I have my juicy ipa brewing just now since last Sunday and was going to sample it this weekend to see how it's progressing, I have a coppers fv with a tap, if I take a sample from the tap will it give the same reading as if I took the lid off and sampled it I am reluctant to remove the lid at the stage

It depends how low your tap is. If it is too low then you may get trub in your sample which will make a difference to your reading. You really shouldn't worry about opening the lid to take a sample.
Whether you use the tap or lift the lid, wait another week before checking the SG

Its a coopers beer fv so the tap is a good 50mm from the turb
