They trapped him, cost him his job and possibly ensured yet another poor England performance in the process. If England do perform badly in this round of qualifications, no doubt the Telegraph sports writers will be putting the boot into the next manager for being ineffective.

Why blame the press, it was the greedy manager who decided to agree to accept money to subvert the rules of his employer!
The Telegraph have been working on corruption in football for 8 months and obviously they must have had research about Big Sam's attitude to this type of thing before they set him up for the fall. Remember he has been named along with his son before in allegations regarding dodgy deals and tax avoidance.
I would have thought that £3 million would have been enough money for him but apparently not!
