Its a Homebrew Comp for Homebrewers, you don't have to enter to come to the event though the more entries the better :)

Will there be general bottle swapping going on anyway? Will bring a few of everything I have left.

I went to this a couple of years ago and it was great :thumb:

However, my wife is due to give birth on the 15th April so unfortunately can't make it this time  unless I want to be castrated

Can anyone come to this then? I've tried to join the NCB forum but can't find the register button and it does say you need to be a member of NCB? How do I go about this? I won't have anything suitable for the comp but can easily bring a few bottles of other stuff...
pdtnc has presumably answered what you need to know. I'll just add that the Saltaire comp has been a cracking meet up every time that I have gone. Sadly I won't be able to get there this year but I absolutely recommend it.

In case you are interested in the NCB:

The NCB are pretty informal, usually it is a case of turn up on the day and pay a couple of quid to cover running costs. There isn't any annual subscription or funny handshake. If you turn up to a meet then you can get yourself put on the mailing list to hear about future events. I have always found the group to be friendly and there are some very knowledgeable members (not me though :) )

The forums have been dead as a doornail every time I have been on. To be fair I haven't been on in a while but I doubt that there is much traffic. The more internet oriented members tend to blog and/or post here or on Jim's (or both). I think UnclePumble is still the webmaster but he is pretty busy running a brewery these days. There is also a fairly low traffic facebook group.

You could email Ian via the contact link on the site. From memory the next meeting is the AGM in Heald Green(Heald Green Village Hall. Cheshire) this weekend. In fact now I look there is something on the Facebook group.

Firstly a reminder about our January competition,(snip) on Sat 25 Jan at the village hall in Heald Green (near Manchester Airport) which we have used for our January meetings for several years now. This is our self-judging Mild Ale competition. Three pint or half litre bottles. Bring an extra one if you can in case you win and people want another taste. Bring another bottle or two of any other beer if you can, for some sharing and evaluation. Also bring some lunch or buy a sandwich along the way.

Usual arrival from noon onwards to enter bottles, for a 1pm start. Finish about 4pm with the possibility of visiting a pub or two in central Manchester on the way home.

I have a chestnut stout from Christmas but I won't be able to get there :(

Quick Remider, please get your entries in as soon as you can to me using the following email

[email protected]

closing date is midnight 31 march so only 21 days to get your entry into me remember 1 entry per person, this is promising to be another big competition and a cracking day out at an excellent venue, and with some surprising results in the past two competitions dont be afraid to enter if you have never put a beer into a competition before.

Regards

Counting on my fingers I make it 10-11 Handpulled and 1 Keg of homebrew should be on the bars at Saltaire NCB comp :)
