Rusty elements

My new Asda kettle elements have rusted! This did not happen until after I used oxy cleaner stuff and left this soaking. I was going to upgrade to bain marie elements but will the same thing happen to those too?

Never mind, I realised it was stuck on Wort! Under the scale its totally convincing as rust. The citric acid treatment works well.

dont ask why but if u attack the elements with a standard kitchen scrubby backed sponge as soon as u have rinsed out the hops the crud just falls off with a determined 60 second scrub, leave it an hour or 2 and it sets like concrete needing the citric acid or similar treatment ..
