Im not anti-royal, as in im not screaming for their blood, but I would just like to know WHAT they do exactly? I mean, do they fill some important function that couldn't be done by elected officials or is it just 'we pay them £X from the tax payers pocket and they pull in £KX from tourism? Is it that simple or more complex.

As I said im not against them, but if the government anounced on the death of the Queen we were to become a republic my **** would be firmly on the sofa and not protesting.
