Hi I've had 6 bottles of rose wine on the go for about 2 week and it seem to have stuck, it's been reading 1040 since at least Sunday. I've shaken it up and put it in a warmer place. And it seems to be clearing, it taste fine. What should I do.

Well... at 1040 it's not safe to bottle, in case fermentation starts up again, and it ought to be _very_ sweet.
I'd leave it to clear completely and then think about it again.

It is 1040 and not 1004, I suppose?

I think I read the hydrometer correctly, I'll check it again tonight to make sure. If it was 1004 would it be ok to bottle.

Is this a kit wine or something you've mixed up yourself?

If the latter, what was the recipe and what yeast did you use?

Wine fermentations don't usually stick unless you do something very deliberate or very stupid, or your yeast is suspect or has reached its alcohol tolerance.

If you are happy with the taste just add stabiliser and finings and it'll be fine, saves you back sweetening later if it had gone to 990 and you found it too dry.

Well check that hydrometer reading again.

You said it tasted ok, so I assume it's not sickly sweet. Do your instructions suggest the sort of final gravity you should expect?
