I will continue to add and update this when I can. I am very new to home brewing and focus on beer kits from my local home brew shop. If you do have any questions or suggestions, I'm happy to listen and do what I can. Many thanks, Ben.

ABV seems a little low on the velevet stout with 1kg of sugar and 1kg of dark spray malt

Agreed. Not sure what happened either, so couldn't really learn from my mistake. But it turned out alright and has made it rather easy drinking. The fact that it was my first ever attempt... And there were no explosions or bottles of vinegar, I was happy.

Updated: The Banana Ale turned out almost like a watered down smoothie when I was bottling it. I did taste some and it was fantastic, very juicy. Reminded me of a Hazy, NEIPA sort of deal. Will see how it does now that it's in conditioning.

For the double IPA, did you make the grapefruit extract or did it come with the kit?

I make my own extracts by soaking the peel of the fruit in a spirit for a week and it works well. I recently bought some orange extract to see if there'd be a difference but there wasn't, even ingredients were similar. Was wondering whether to buy extract or make my own in future.

Updated: PB Port has been bottled and now in conditioning. Started a small 10L IPA which will be simple with some Amarillo Hops, just a nice Summer session beer hopefully.

I like the sound of this! I'm wondering how oily the peanut powder is and how it'll affect the head retention. Where did you get it? Would like to see the original recipe.

I used peanut butter powder which is oil free! Only problem I had was when I added the PBP to 2nd fermentation (which is my FV with a bottling wand) the PBP sediment built up higher than the bottling wand, which made bottling difficult. I simply scooped out some of the PBP sediment and bottled fine. However, now that the beer is settling nicely, a very black liquid with a cream/oil texture (beautiful) there is about 1-2cm of PBP sediment still in each bottle. So next time, my plan is to do exactly what I've done... But before bottling, I'm going to transfer it into another FV again, but this time with a muslin bag over the top to reduce the sediment some more if possible.

I got the kit from https://www.the-home-brew-shop.co.uk/acatalog/American-Mocha-Porter-Beer-Kit.html

Although the kit says 5.8%, mine shot up to 7.8% with all the additions. It was really fun to throw stuff in and I will be trying this again.

I did a Simcoe/Citra/Amarillo IPA at the start of this year (actually the rebrew is currently conditioning in bottles).

Based on one of the Basic Brewing Radio hop sampler podcasts I revised the dry hopping to include a load more Amarillo - love it athumb..

Any suggestions on how much Amarillo I should use for it?

With a name like yours.... you really should brew a Robinsons Old Tom! I'm looking in Graham Wheelers book, 3rd edition page 179. It's a must do for myself... eventually! :laugh8:athumb..

Not sure if you can see the photo of recipe... I can PM it to you if you want.
