Rob is now selling Pure Hop Aroma oil.. :hmm:
Has anyone tried this?
Would it work out cheaper and better to use dry hops?

BB :hmm:

No but I was interested in the trials he had at TST. . . .He just chose the wrong hop to bring for me . . . . Cascade

But I am going to try some of the Saaz

How would you use it, add for the last 5min or just before the yeast?

Am guessing you wouldn't use it for a full 90/60min boil :wha:

Cheers will order some when I order again in a month or so, hope your not going to try to knock him down on price again.

It's an aroma oil you add it to the cask or the Bottling bucket, . . .DON'T BOIL IT!!

adding it to the FV . . . . Will get gassed off with the CO2 during the ferment

This sounds like a great idea for salvaging those beers that are a little imbalanced. A few months ago I produced a wonderful brown ale - the trouble was, it was supposed to be a porter. I think the alpha acid rating on my fuggles was lying to me.

:roll:I'll say it again in case you missed it the first time

THESE ARE AROMA OILS AND ARE NO GOOD FOR TRYING TO INCREASE BITTERNESS add to the bottling bucket of corny / keg / cask to increase the aroma of the hop in the beer . . . instead of dry hopping

Hi,

I have been testing the oils for a while now and have also been given a fair bit of feedback from samples that were sent to various homebrewers for their honest opinion.

If the oils are used as directed they work really well. It is the first time I have been able to recreate that dry hop aroma, like putting your nose in a bag of goldings type aroma, in my beer. Just like a pint of casked Bombadier I had in a really well managed "spit and sawdust" pub.

As Ale man has pointed out these oils have nothing to do with bittering at all. From the feedback I have received I have seen that people want to use them for flavour, used at that strength they can start to taste chemically, but you have to really over do it.

I have also been impressed by the staying power. Hop aroma does not really last in a cornie for long but the oils do, in my experience.

They may not be the the complete answer for every brew but certainly have their place, they have improved my beer.

As always I am interested in any feedback, good and especially bad.

Cheers

Rob
