Hello fellow Homebrewers,
Firstly, apologies if this is in the wrong section.
My question is this, when carrying out a usual All grain brew, you heat strike water and mash with the predetermined amount for the mash (lets say 13 litres). When you use a RIMS setup would you just recirculate that amount for the mash and then do a normal sparge ? or would you use the total amount of liquor for the brew, recirculate through the RIMS, then drain off, and boil?
I would like to get into the automated side of recirculation, and see a RIMS as a good step into this. i'm just not sure of the amounts that you would run through such a system, the articles I have read don't seem to offer all the information i'm after. I may, of course be looking in the wrong places, wouldn't be the first time!
Any advice would be gratefully received.
