I have 2 fermenting, one blackcurrent(sg 102, now 029), and one strawberry(sg 1098, now 1039).

They have been going a week or so. Although there is still some evidence of bubbles on the surface I think they have pretty much stopped fermenting, especially the strawberry one..... .

Any ideas?

No airlock mate, just loose lids on the 5L bottles...there is still small bubbles on the surface. I have to keep tipping the bottles to check the gravity readings, ther eisnt enough fluid in there to check by putting the hydrometer straight in.....id not be able to retrieve it easily enough....

How long as it been fementing? all mine tend to take about 4 - 5 weeks to fement down to around 0.990. Alho the one ive got on the go now is alread down to 1.020 from 1.100 after 4 days.

For Ribena wines I would say you've got a pretty impressive SG drop if they've only been going a week.

If “there is still small bubbles on the surface” that means the yeasties are still busy.

Leave it alone!
For at least a fortnight!!
And quit poking it with a hydrometer!!!

Seriously, use your eyes and ears more, every time you plop in a hydrometer is an opportunity for infection.

Oh, and they should be topped up to the neck.
