Hello all!
Further ramblings connected to the bottling witch hunt!
Swapping to kegs I have the option of keeping to 23l batches,kegging most of it and bottling a few.
Or...dropping batch size to approx 19l (not sure where I need to be to keep gas dip tube clear and all that..).
Regarding the second option...do I have to recalculate my extensive folder of brews or is it as simple as adjusting batch size in Brewfather or whatever software you're using?

Hi Clint i have never tried adjusting with brewfather, i brew 21L batches and more or less finish up around 19-20 so what ever is left at kegging time gets supped, i also have check valves between the kegs and regulator never had a problem in about 4 years
 
My volumes are generally bang on 23l to fv so a bit too much for a 19l keg. I'm trying to get from bottling if possible, it's what's stopping the brewing! I believe it's possible to bottle a few from the keg? I'd like to do this for bottle swaps.

I just keep to the 23l or whatever batch and bottle the excess. No real bother, half a dozen or so pint bottles is easily managed.
 
I target 20L in the FV which gives me a full cornie with perhaps a little too much waste, I should probably bottle a couple but hat it so much I don't.

In brewfather, you just scale the recipe. I know there are thoughts that scaling from, say, 23L to a 6 barrel brew length is a bit more complicated, but going from 23L to 19 is such a small change in the scheme of things I just do it.

I scale in Brewfather by clicking on the edit button in the equipment section, and changing batch size then clicking scale.

I do the same, between 4-6 bottles isn’t a hassle at all, and it’s nice to have a few to give away/swap.

Otherwise I have bottled the excess in 2 and 3 L pop bottles in the past too. Squeeze all the air out, put a carbonation cap on and chill. Then when ready to drink, blast with CO2, shake and repeat a few times.

Alternatively just click the scale icon next to the equipment profile ….. simples !
I often scale a recipe particularly if it contains a lot of hops as I have found 20 litres of heavily hopped NEIPA’S leave me short in the keg and I scale up to 21/23L
