I received one of the regulators in the pic below as a birthday present, add I'm moving over to corny keg. It didn't come with a manual, and angel homebrew are presently on holiday so I can't ask them so can anyone tell me the function of the bit I've highlighted in red? Is it to release pressure in the line when disconnecting a keg so you don't get a loud bang?

It’s a pressure release valve, no need to touch it as far as I’m concerned. If you’re using the connectors on your keg, if using Cornies, have a stop valve built in so the gas pressure remains in the line. You can connect and disconnect while pressure is on line.

Thanks Brian - that answers another question I had so that's really appreciated. The only pressurised system I have used before is dive bottles with pre-charged air rifles, and on those you need to release the pressure in the line before disconnecting, so I was a little confused!
