Hi All,

Was wondering about my recirc technique.....

I have tended to open the tap very very slowy and let the first runnings just trickle out until I have about a third of a pint, then pour back in. Repeat about three times until reasonably clear.

Question is, Is it neccesary to do it so slow? Can I just open up the tap and drain it at faster than a trickle?

Also, should you recirc after the sparge water is added as well?

Thanks!

That's exactly how I do it. slow to start and then fully open it up. Once it is settled, it should be fine. :thumb:

Also do this on my sparges as the grain bed needs to settle after the stirring.

have two jugs and wap her ope to full then swap jugs as they fill when clear let it fall into boiler.

I pump my batches, single level brewery, and leave it for about 5 mins recirculating then divert to the boiler.
