This is a plea for a beer recipe to share with some German friends when we meet up in september
for a mountain biking week in the Pyrenees.
I want to take a couple of 5 gallon cornies to share with them but as yet dont know enough to make one up

I would like it to be Hoppy and full flavoured and up in the 7% ish abv for one corny

and maybe a strong Weisbier because I know they will be bringing some piss poor stuff with them

Any help much appreciated

forgive the nooby but whats a wiezenbock

and any chance of a list of ingredients and proceedings please

Wiesbiers shouldn't be particularly hoppy; it should be the yeasts that make up the majority of the flavour.
Why don't you make a more British-style ale since they will most likely be able to drink German beer all the time anyway?

This is my recipe for a really hoppy pale ale. Just brewed it again last week and is a very promising beer. :thumb: :thumb:

Its a clone of St Austells Proper Job. I actually both times I have made it achieved 85% efficiency so it is actually 7.3% for some reason I didn't bother changing the efficiency   .

Very nice drink drunk both young and mature.

No problem. A weizenbock is essentially an imperial wheat beer.

You'd want a target OG of around 1.070 (hence the bock part).

The grain bill is about almost 50/50 Munich II and wheat malt. Add just a little bit of Caraaroma malt.

German Tradition hops to about just over 30 IBU.

Wyeast 3068 with a big starter.

You end up with a big bold German wheat beer. But it will be strong!

Thanks Greysalchemy that does sound a great beer
not one to rush when brewing though
